if you like it then you should’ve put a pin on it

i go back and forth with pinterest. some days i’m all like, let’s pin all of the things! and other days i’m like, let’s face it why do i even have a “diy projects” board, i’m never going to actually make any of these things. i love it, i hate it, and then i’m up until one a.m. pinning things for my hypothetical wedding.

we all ask ourselves what it was that we could have possibly done before pinterest and to that i say, we probably had a lot more money. no but really, i think i just kept a notebook of torn out catalog pages and magazine ads. which meant that i had to actually first purchase the instyle: weddings magazines, but you know, that’s neither here nor there. lately, i’ve been pinning a lot of outfits for future recreation. i mean technically i don’t own a lot of the pieces required to manifest said ensembles, but it’s funny, i was totally looking for a legitimate excuse to go shopping, so now i have one. additionally, now that i’m into this whole expanding my homedrobe thing, i’ve also been scouring the boards of pinterest for home decor inspiration. mostly i just upload my own from the restoration hardware and west elm websites, but you know, i’m feeling pretty inspired. and poor, i’m feeling really poor.

and then there are the recipes i keep pinning in hopes that one day they will see the light of day in my kitchen. like i said, much like those diy projects i have virtually dog-eared, i’ll get around to them eventually. you know, when my schedule isn’t so hectic. or when getting take out from jimbo’s doesn’t sound like a better idea every single time.

i pin witty or inspirational quotes in hopes that they may at some point be the catalyst for one of those deep blog posts i find myself writing when talking about my love life or posting daily outfits gets boring. sometimes i commit these quotes to memory for use in casual conversation. i find it makes me seem both impressive and worldly which are basically the same thing? other times i contemplate whether or not i should print out said quotes and frame them for wall adornments throughout my house. but see above re: diy projects.

bottom line: if you haven’t discovered pinterest for yourself, you may have just saved yourself countless hours of sleep, productivity, and/or money. but if you have, then you know obviously understand. and accordingly, here are a few images that have made their way onto my virtual board as of late.
