happy fourth of july weekend! i can’t believe america’s birthday is already here. second to thanksgiving, the fourth is my favorite holiday. bbqs, family and friends, a reason to wear any combination of red, white, and blue, and fireworks. what more could you need? so however you spend this holiday weekend, may it be safe, delicious, and memorable.

also, here are the six things i’m obsessed with this week:

one || americana apparel. looking for a little fourth of july ensemble inspiration? one of my favorite bloggers has taken out the guesswork for you -find her ideas here  or there’s always this guide i made one year ago today.

two || the write stuff. my college roommate decided this week that she is starting her own etsy shop to showcase her handwriting and calligraphy. all i can say is, it’s about time! she was always the one to make signs for our upcoming sorority events and when she wrote you a birthday note, you’d save the envelope just because she had written your name so perfectly. anyway, i personally can’t wait to commission her for a few prints for my home. follow her instagram account @masonalleycalligraphy, and stay tuned for the opening of her etsy shop!

three || mirror, mirror on the wall. as i mentioned earlier this week, i had monday off in anticipation of working for a few hours tomorrow at the club’s 4th of july event. in addition to taking a trip to anthropologie, mom and i hit up home goods to scour the store for some home decor treasures. i’ve been on the hunt for new downstairs bathroom mirrors and was ready to purchase two from kirkland’s when we stumbled upon two rectangle mirrors in brown rustic frames. they were the exact sizes and aesthetic i was hoping to find and in confirming S’s mutual love for the pair, we snatched them up before another savvy north county shopper could take them away.

four || beary delicious. if you went to college in l.a., chances are you you ended up at diddy riese over the course of your four years as a co-ed. acclaimed for its dollar build-your-own ice cream sandwiches (which have sadly been raised to $2.00) and its late night hours of operation, it was the site of many impulse saturday night visits during my time at pepperdine. recently, a similar operation began opening franchises all over san diego –the baked bearhaving walked by its la costa location many times in the past few months and hearing its praises from some of our friends, S and i have decided to make our inaugural visit tonight. lucky for me, not only do they offer soy vanilla ice cream, but gluten-free chocolate chip cookies to sandwich it! do i know how to party or what?

five || high school reunion. one of my dearest and oldest friends (old as in we’ve known each other since 6th grade) is home from illinois for a couple weeks, visiting her family and logging some much needed beach time with her hubby and littles in tow. i was lucky enough to visit her over labor day 2012, at which time her eldest was just four months old. now her daughter is 3 and she’s since added a little boy to her crew as well. anyway, she and her hubby have invited S and i over for dinner at her parents house on sunday evening and i’m bursting with excitement to see her, meet her newest addition, and of course, finally introduce her to S. i seriously can’t wait. three cheers for friendships 18 years strong! she’s the stunner on the far right.

six || 365 of me and my guy. y’all, today is S & my one year anniversary! i have a mushy post in the queue with reflections on what these past 365 days have meant to me, but i wanted to mention it here as well since it’s clearly something i’ve loved this week. to commemorate our special day, we’re headed for a romantic dinner at 333 pacific in the oceanside harbor, the perfect setting to not only celebrate our love, but to sport my new $1 romper, of course. cheers to a whole year of S & S, and to eight dozen more.
