a new trend for a new year

i should clarify that this is a new to me trend, as the neck scarf has been having a moment  for quite some time now.

madewell dress (similar here & here) || target tights || urban outfitters booties (similar)

madewell bandana (on sale!) || madewell hat || anthropologie clutch (similar)

JORD watch (c/o)

anyway, after seeing many a fellow fashion blogger rock this parisian-inspired look for months, i threw caution to the wind and ordered myself a silk bandana from madewell (during one of their recent holiday sales, of course). when it arrived, i knew i wanted to style it as i would a choker -rolled up and tied in a simple knot to the side around my neck.

ultimately i love how the bandana played peek-a-boo from behind the collar of the dress and how well the white popped against the blue. it ended up being the perfect accent to an otherwise neutral outfit. i know i’ll never give up my natalie borton necklaces, but i love the idea of switching up my accessories every now and then. while i was hesitant to adopt this particular trend as my own, i’m really happy i decided to take the (albeit mini) risk.

speaking of risks, here’s to taking more of them in 2017. in fashion and otherwise 😉

Cute, cute cute. I think I’d give a second look if I saw somebody sporting the outfit on the street. You carry it off beautifully. And I love the purse!!! A perfect look for 2017.

Thank you so much! Who knew a bandana could offer so much sass to an outfit? Isn’t this bag fun? It’s gotta be almost a decade old but I found it again this weekend and it’s the perfect size for an evening out. It’ll definitely get more use in 2017! xo

Hi Jess! Thanks so much for stopping by. You’re so sweet, I really appreciate the kind words. Taking fashion risks can be a little intimidating but in the end, I’m happy with how it turned out. I think I’m a fan of the bandana! Happy New Year to you, girl. xo
