faux fur bomber jacket

when i think back to our wedding day, i think many things. the top being that it truly was the best day of our lives. but i also think about how blessed we were to have had gorgeous weather in the midst of one of the worst winter storms san diego has seen in recent years. after feverishly checking the forecast almost hourly leading up to the big day, i finally faced the reality that though it would be clear (hallelujah), it was going to be chilly on our wedding day. so given the fact that i wore a delicate spaghetti strapped dress, i started the search for finding a chic jacket to pair with my gown. after scouring the interwebs just days before the wedding, i finally landed upon this volcom faux fur bomber jacket. i still find it ironic that it turned out to being such a hit given the fact that i haven’t worn volcom since i was 14 and i’m not normally a faux fur person, but the bomber-style silhouette ensured that though it was substantial, it wasn’t bulky and on the contrary, quite flattering to my shape.

truth be told, i was running around visiting with our guests for most of the reception that i ended up wearing this jacket for all but 10 minutes that day, but given how chilly this winter has been, i knew there’d be plenty of opportunities for styling it again and again. one such occasion was S and my first date night as a married couple last saturday. we went and saw hidden figures followed by a dinner at casa de bandini, our favorite local mexican restaurant. since movie theaters tend to be quite chilly, i knew bringing my faux fur along would ensure i’d stay warm and comfy throughout the film.

given the fact that the jacket is in of itself a statement piece, i kept the remaining elements of my outfit fairly simple-opting for my new black cropped jeans and a simple white tank with pops of caramel accessories to compliment the color of the fur. the overall look felt pleasantly chic. what is it about faux fur that makes you feel like an old hollywood movie star?

Wow, you certainly got this look right! I love the b/w ensemble… but the accessories make the look stand out. And the faux fur… I just want to run my fingers through it. You look absolutely gorgeous today, Mrs. R. Kudos to your wonderful photographer. Excellent location!
