military bells

after putting together this outfit, i realized that maybe i’ve been wrong about outerwear all these years. maybe jackets could be power players in my wardrobe, i just had to find the right ones with the right fit.

enter this cute bell-sleeved number i had seen on one of my instagram style crushes.

it had been idling in my banana republic shopping cart for weeks but now was on super sale. i took it as a sign and hit “purchase” before i could think twice. gosh i’m such a sucker for a good deal.

and a cute jacket, apparently.

it’s funny that i picked up this military-inspired jacket in a muted olive shade since i had just been drawn to the color on my recent visit to madewell. i tried on this cardigan in a pretty dark green but ended up passing on it since it was a bit too oversized for my liking.

besides its color, what i love about the typically masculine silhouette of the jacket are the bell sleeves which instantly add a touch of femininity. it’s truly the perfect combination of hard and soft. i played up that softness by pairing it with a lace tank and my wide-leg cropped jeans (because i can’t stop wearing them). while i would normally accent the green with a rich camel color in my accessories, i decided to opt for black instead. my newest natalie borton necklace was the perfect compliment with its mix of handmade clay beads and brass hardware, as was my black crossbody bag and black and white dotted flats.

From head to toe, this style is perfect. I especially love the sunglasses and the lace blouse. I don’t remember seeing those shoes before… and, they’re darling. This is a great look for you… hope you went somewhere special to show it off… hopefully some place that serves fabulous, tasty food. BTW, excellent location; especially with the fountain. (Hello, Mr. R)

I actually did go somewhere fun to show it off -to my friend’s country club for a girls’ brunch! And the food was indeed delicious. Mr. R says hi 😉 xoxo

    Hello!
What size did you get the jacket in?

Hi Jenna! Thanks for stopping by. I’m wearing an XS but I actually ended up taking it to the tailor and having it tapered even more. I would size down at least a size since it fits fairly oversized. Hope that helps!

      xoxo
