while i’d never consider my style “bohemian,” there are times when i gravitate toward a more whimsical vibe when putting together an outfit. after styling this skirt in what i’d call a “predictable” way (black tank, black heels), i wanted wanted to push myself to pair it with more unexpected pieces to showcase its versatility. with music festival season on the horizon, i opted for a look that, if i was cool enough to attend one, i would totally rock in the desert. since denim, or in this case, chambray, acts like a neutral, it compliments the floral print nicely, though blue isn’t one of the colors in the skirt’s pattern. rather than tucking the blouse into the waistband, i knotted the hem instead to give the blouse a less “polished” feel. knotting shirts are also a great way to compliment your shape as they pull the blouse around the smallest part of you. for the accessories, i did a mixture of black and brown -complimenting and off-setting the colors of the skirt. this “sadie” necklace from natalie borton’s latest crop of hand-made designs is the perfect pop of black against the muted blue of the blouse. since camel is a neutral, i opted for my leather booties for a more rustic feel as well as my straw hat to casualize (<—just made up that word) the look.
