summer blues

fun fact: i had originally planned on taking these photos in front of a blue wall to really drive home the “summer blues” title of this post, but once we got to the location, there were far too many people around for me to feel comfortable (i get stage fright with too large of a crowd). so S and i set out for plan b. luckily that plan led us to this dreamy little bougainvillea-covered fence and the most adorable yellow vintage beetle.

you should know by now that i’m a big fan of a monochromatic look (all black, all grey, all white, etc.) as well as mixing my denim. for this look, i combined both styling techniques for an updated canadian tuxedo look for a casual weekend date night.

i recently picked up this blue-striped bandana with the cutest scalloped detailing at madewell and used it as my inspiration when putting together the rest of my look. i’ve had this cropped chambray top for a few years but i always love remixing it every summer season. in my opinion, the cropped silhouette is perfect for pairing with high-waisted denim since it emphasizes your waist. i finished off the look with neutral accessories -including my straw slide sandals that i’m attempting to break-in before the honeymoon. spoiler alert: they’re going to show up on the blog again this week.
