the smell of sunscreen. freckled shoulders. juicy watermelon. sandy toes. barbecued everything. these are just a few of the many things i associate with the summer season.
but when it comes to clothes, to me there’s nothing that screams “summer” to me more than the combination of blue and white. maybe it’s the nautical vibe or the fact that both colors show off a good summer tan, but once the temperatures heat up, i gravitate toward the lighter hues.
if you’ve been reading over the last few months, you’ll note that my pant collection has grown 400%. i actually just had to talk myself out of buying a new pair the other day because for once in my entire 32 years of life, i own just as many pairs of non-denim pants as i do skirts/dresses. not that there is anything with owning too many pairs of pants -especially when they have an elastic waistband (like these babies). aside from their comfort level, i was first drawn to these cotton trousers for their blue and white striped pattern design. with a cropped hem, i knew they’d be perfect for summer to pair with everything from slide sandals to nude pumps -dressing them both up and down for work and weekend.
for a sunny weekend look, i paired these pants with my sleeveless linen top, and natural-colored accessories. after months of wearing them, i think i’ve finally broken in these sandals, just in time to take them on our honeymoon in a few weeks(!). unfortunately this necklace has sold out, but natalie has some gorgeous new pieces in her current collection, including her popular “camille” style in grey glass.
