fourth of july style

picking the perfect outfit to sport for america’s birthday is always something i look forward to. this year i decided to go back, way back, all the way to my high school graduation dress. i’ve held onto it all these years partly for nostalgia, but mostly for the fact that i’ve yet to find a silhouette like it. the red and white seersucker is always fun for me to pull out come summertime and it proved to be the perfect patriotic ensemble when paired with a chambray button-down tied at my waist.

for those who don’t know, the private country club i work for has a huge 4th of july bash every year (think 1500 guests!) and it’s all hands on deck. i man the photo station so i’m on my feet for the entire five hours we’re there (S gets to come with me!). since i’m usually standing on the first tee, i always try to wear shoes that won’t get ruined by grass stains or afternoon dew. distressed leather cowboy boots tend to be my shoe of choice not only for their durability but for how well they contrast with a light-weight sundress. this year i added a pop of red with a bold lip and accessorized with my tassel earrings and favorite straw hat.

Love this photo location! What a great idea to tie the chambray blouse at your waist and layer it over this dress. Loved this dress back then and love how you styled it now!❤️

Sassy and patriotic! Love the Justin boots. The risk it lipstick is a perfect color tone for you. The dress is darling (I remember seeing your graduation picture… darling then and darling now). Everything about this shoot is wonderful. Kudos to Mr Photo.
