keen on green

i’m no stranger to a monochromatic look (evidenced here & here), so when i began collecting items in my new favorite color, it felt only natural to style them all together. do i kind of resemble the jolly green giant? yes, yes i do. do i also kind of feel like i’m in a ralph lauren ad? well, that’s also true. i’m willing to have you think the former to feel like the latter.

anywho, how many times can i talk about my love for green and the fact that i’d like it to be fall already? probably a half dozen more times than you think is appropriate. whoopsies. so let’s start talking about something else -like these pants. after everlane sent them to me in white (and i thereafter became their number one fan), i knew i wanted to buy my own second pair in a different color. lucky for me, two weeks ago everlane released four new shades of their famous wide-leg cropped pant and i promptly snagged one in the surplus green. i’ve been looking for a good muted green-colored pant to add to my non-denim collection and these totally fit the bill.

since their shipping date got a little delayed, i wasn’t able to style these pants last weekend as previously planned. naturally i moved our styling session to this weekend –one of the hottest we’ve had all summer (doh!). oh well, that’s what air conditioning is for, right?

to avoid looking too matchy matchy, i opted to compliment the muted green of the pants with the rich forest shade of my new ruffled-sleeve sweater. i also added in cognac accents to compliment the monochromatic palette. normally i wear my boots on the outside of my pants -with skinny jeans tucked into the shaft. but having swapped my pant silhouette to a wider-leg, i’ve been experimenting with wearing my boots beneath the pant leg instead and i’m really loving the end result.

as i mentioned in this post, my gal natalie borton has added some richer hues to her jewelry shop as of late, including this hunter green tassel necklace with unique elk antler bead detailing. i love how it ties this whole single color look together but it would also be a great statement against a light-colored button-down or blouse.

I love how you paired those luscious greens with the cognacs… so warm. And, I immediately noticed the necklace. Your look and style hit an apex today!
