5 things to snag from abercrombie

yes you read that right, abercrombiebecause as we established some months ago, this isn’t the abercrombie of your youth, y’all (if your youth was the late 90’s to early 2000’s).

abercrombie’s latest batch of arrivals have me seeing all the heart-eye emojis. with an abundance of soft fabrics and a muted palette (still obsessing over olive and soft pink), the fall collection makes me want to simultaneously attend a football tailgate and snuggle up with a cup of coffee at home. here are the five things currently on my radar:

flyaway cushy knit turtleneck || usually i’m not a fan of turtlenecks, but this one looks too cozy to pass up! i’m obsessed with the button detailing and the peek-a-boo split hem in the back. this would be perfect for lounging around the house or as a cover-up venturing to and from the gym (or barre studio in my case).

overall jumpsuit || i think i’ll stop at nothing to find a pair of overalls that works for my body. i’m not saying this black overall jumpsuit is my answer, but i’d be willing to give it a try. what i like about this style in particular is the soft cotton fabric and the flowier fit. i’d layer a striped tee or chambray underneath it and throw on a leather jacket for an extra layer if needed. for footwear, i’d style them with my hobes leather sneakers or my mules.

puff sleeved sweater || another day, another cozy sweater. i’m partial to the puffed sleeve detail of this particular knit, that comes in grey, camel, burgundy, and navy. the mock neckline makes it versatile to wear layered over a button-down with skinny jeans and booties for a quintessential fall outfit, or by itself with a faux leather midi skirt to play with textures.

velvet boyfriend tee || as it is most years, velvet is BACK again this fall. after the light-weight fabrics of summer, the lux quality of velvet always offers a refreshing (and fairly fancy) change of pace as we head into autumn and subsequently, the holiday season. personally, i’m always a little hesitant to add such a seasonally-sensitive piece to my wardrobe since san diego weather (and subsequently style) doesn’t really differ from january-december, but the simplicity of this boyfriend tee makes me believe it would be a seamless addition to my wardrobe. the slightly slouchy fit would be the perfect juxtaposition against a slim-fitting pant or skirt. for a quintessential “shawna” outfit, i’d front-tuck the black version into a pair of white wide-leg cropped pants, throw on a pair of black leather pumps, and black tassel earrings, and add a bold lip. classic and chic, and perfect for a holiday party.

military vest || i remember one of my good friends had an olive-colored military vest from j.crew that i quickly became obsessed with one summer. i raced out to find a similar version but it was never quite as cute as the one she had. fast forward five (six?) years and i think i’ve found the new best alternative. this vest comes in two shades of camo, navy, and olive (it also came in pink but that color has since sold out) and would be perfect for layering over everything from a simple henley to a cozy turtleneck sweater. i’m also obsessed with how the navy vest looks layered over a canadian tuxedo -all the shades of blue!

Those are nice selections. I liked the puff sleeve sweater the best and I like the idea of pairing it with the faux leather skirt.

Yes! I’m thinking I might need to snag some faux leather this season -either a skirt or some pants 🙂 xoxo
