if memory serves me correctly, i got my ears pierced in fifth grade. at the time it felt like a very rite-of-passage thing to do (oh and along with most of america, i’d assume, i went to claires, naturally). while i’m definitely more of a stud-girl, i have worn many a chandelier/statement earring in my day and after two decades of heavy jewelry, my earring holes were looking a little droopy. so for the past five years especially, i’ve really stayed away from anything more than my oversized pearl stud earrings.
but then my sweet and talented friend, natalie started making tassel earrings and i became intrigued. she generously gifted me a pair and once i tried them on, i was encouraged by how light-weight they felt. three pairs later, i’m back to wearing dangly earrings again 🙂
enter her latest creation –14k hoop earrings. after reading this post on one of my favorite blogs and seeing natalie herself model the style here, i was excited to try a new earring style. similar to the tassel earrings, these 14k gold hoops are incredibly light and add a fun exclamation point to any outfit.
i wore this outfit on saturday, on a wonderful date day with my main squeeze. i wanted to do something special for him since he’s been extra accommodating lately (my car was in the shop so he carpooled with my mom to work most of last week) so i surprised him (i couldn’t keep the surprise so i told him five days early of my plans) with a trip to one of his favorite restaurants, woodranch bbq. while i had originally planned on wearing pants with this fall-ish ensemble, the weather had other plans so i swapped out white jeans for white jean shorts instead. as i mentioned before, a sweater + shorts is definitely the san diego fall uniform. next time, though, i’ll leave the booties at home. walking around all day in these fringe beauties definitely resulted in a few blisters. the things we endure for a cute ensemble, right?
