raise your hand if you’ve ever changed your outfit at the last minute…

so before we left for the desert last week, i decided to swap out my thanksgiving outfit for something a little more comfortable. while i loved the idea of getting extra wear out of my favorite wrap dress, i knew in my heart of hearts, a slightly dressed down outfit would make me feel my best. so i went with it and well, it was perfect. especially since the temperatures were still quite balmy by the time we sat down to enjoy our holiday feast.

besides the fact that it boasts one of the best spas, is nestled right against the mountains, has delicious spots to eat and drink, and the most relaxing accommodations, what i love most about the la quinta resort is the gorgeous grounds. there is literally beauty at every turn. from white stucco walls covered in climbing bougainvillea in every shade of red and pink to the splashes of blue and turquoise on the windows and doors, it is a photographer’s dream. as well as a style blogger’s dream. we snuck out onto the dunes golf course to capture the golden hour light before our early thanksgiving reservations at morgan’s, one of the resort’s onsite restaurants.

while this year’s thanksgiving celebration was definitely a change of pace to our annual traditions, it was fun to mix it up and create new memories as a family. i anticipate this won’t be the last year we opt for a desert getaway over the holiday weekend. next time, perhaps with a baby in tow (no this is not an announcement, just a simple wish for the future!).
