blouson sleeves two ways

0 Permalink 4

i mentioned last week that i had just picked up this blouson sleeve top a couple weeks ago and had been waiting for an opportunity to style it. since it’s the kind of blouse that i feel can be dressed up or down, i wanted to showcase how to style it for two different occasions.

while the loft website describes it as marled navy/white, i definitely think it could also pass as grey, which is great since it opens up even more possibilities for styling (pairing it with these, this, and this for starters):

tassel earrings (c/o) || leather tote (c/o) || bandana

i wore this outfit on saturday afternoon as i ran around doing errands before our weekly date night. after some scary santa ana conditions (still praying for the fire victims in ventura/santa barbara counties!), it was nice to have some cooler temperatures. clearly my love affair with these joggers isn’t ending any time soon and they’re perfect for pairing with this long-sleeve top. i usually opt for a casual front tuck and then slide into a leather open-toe flat (to show off my christmas pedicure, of course!) for an easy, yet put together look.

after a local christmas parade thwarted our plans for pizza two weeks ago, we were finally able to take our date night at blue ribbon, my favorite place to go for some gluten-free, cheese-free pie. for a fancier look, i swapped out my joggers and mules in favor of a wrap skirt and heeled booties and voila, i was date night, ready. with its bloused sleeves, the top is a perfect match for an equally as feminine ruffled skirt and the peep-toe sandals give a little it a little southern california flair, because this is december in our glorious part of the world.

as i’ve mentioned before, i always play a little game with myself before i purchase most things -i try to come up with at least three outfits i can make with it and the existing items in my closet. if the piece doesn’t feel versatile enough to work in both my professional and weekend wardrobes, then i usually rule it out pretty quickly. since i wear a similar striped version of this top almost once a week, i knew this thicker marled version would also be on heavy rotation -especially as we enter “winter” (whatever that means).
