a morning at the flower fields

2 Permalink 4

growing up in san diego, a visit to the carlsbad flower fields every spring was an annual event. we have dozens of photos of me and my step-siblings nestled amongst the ranunculus blooms hamming it up for the camera at various stages of our youth. want proof? here are just two of the dozens of photos my mom found in her old albums (please notice the fanny pack. chic!).

fast forward twenty+ years and i returned to the backdrop of my childhood with my mom last friday morning. she actually buys an annual pass to the flower fields every year so she can go whenever she wants! despite the cooler conditions, we managed to snap a few shots amid the colorful blooms. what is it about flowers that instantly puts you in a good mood?

it’s hard to pick a favorite color ranunculus but i think i like the vibrant pink ones the best. i especially loved how well they complimented the subtle blues of my striped midi dress (you may remember it from this post). i’ve linked a few more pretty midis below, including this one that is top on my wish list.

if you live locally (or within reasonable driving distance), i highly suggest a visit to the flower fields before they disappear until next season. they are even more exquisite in person than in photographs! speaking of photographs, my talented mom snapped today’s shots!

That’s one of my favorite looks for you… casual, put-together, and perfect for out-of-doors! The location was a fun place (and super colorful) to showcase the softer colors of your outfit. What a fun day with your mom… visiting a childhood haunt.

Aww, thank you! It was such a gorgeous day and luckily we went early enough that we nearly had the place to ourselves! xoxo
