we bought a house!

so i’ve been keeping a little secret for the past month…

but now that escrow has officially closed as of today, i can finally share our exciting news!

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

i know, we’re still trying to process it ourselves! but after six months of scouring zillow, touring property after property (probably 15 in total?), and most importantly, by God’s grace and providence, we have finally found our forever home and you guys, it’s better than we could have ever imagined. it’s less than five miles from our current residence so not much will change in terms of our commutes but it’s double the space we have with now with hard wood floors, tons of natural light, three bedrooms and baths, and a backyard! and if you can’t tell from this photo, the two garages are separated so S finally gets the workshop he’s always wanted. oh and i get the sunken tub and bathroom counter space i’ve always wanted.

anyway, now that it’s officially official, i can’t wait to share more of our journey with you. while we originally envisioned purchasing a fixer upper, we ended up with something that’s pretty turnkey (which in hindsight i’m very grateful for). so all that’s really left to do is furnish it so that it feels like ours. we’ve already purchased a few items but we still have quite a ways to go. i’m reminding myself that just as rome wasn’t built in a day, neither does #casaderivera (cute, no?) have to be completely furnished in a day, a month or even a year. we can take our time in transforming it into a place where the next few chapters of our life will transpire. right now, our design aesthetic is leaning more toward mid-century modern, fairly minimalist in nature, with lots of clean lines, and in a neutral color palette. we just want it to feel more grown up, you know? i plan on sharing more details as we go along, including recent home purchases and sneak peeks into the space itself.

we couldn’t be more excited for this next phase of our life to begin and we look forward to making memories in our new home for years to come. thanks so much for sharing in our excitement!

xoxo
