styled now & later: frilled blouse

if you haven’t noticed, zara has been killing it this season. and by killing it, i mean taking all of my money because their spring collection has been on POINT. after ordering two white eyelet blouses (here & here), i recently ordered a third in a similar style (clearly i have a problem). when it arrived, i won’t lie, i was unconvinced it was a winner. it’s more of an off-white than a true white and the elastic detail on the sleeves wasn’t my favorite at first blush. but when i tried it on with a few things in my closet (always a good idea if you’re unsure about a certain piece), i started to warm up to it. the voluminous sleeves give the top character and the slight peplum hem makes it perfect for pairing with high-waisted pants. i also love the scalloped detail on the bodess. ultimately the top won me over since it’s unlike anything else i own. i decided to style it two different ways to show its versatility –once for the current may grey we’ve been experiencing, and once again for the heart of summer when the temperatures are (hopefully) in the 80’s.
