this friday, i’m in love with…

getting a costco membership || when i met S, he still had a costco membership. but considering how infrequently we used it, we have since let said membership expire. recently we’ve been rethinking joining again, especially since the warehouse store seems to carry a lot more shawna-friendly items (organic pre-made spaghetti squash, hummus packets, cauliflower rice, oh my!). when we do end up re-upping our membership, i plan on sharing a post of our costco haul (if that’s something that might be helpful?).

madewell’s fall 2018 collection || so one of the perks of being a madewell insider (which simply means i spend all my monies at the store) is having access to their collections before they’re available for public consumption. earlier this week i got a sneak peek of their upcoming fall collection and i’m happy to report that it’s choc full of neutral stripes, cozy layers, seasonal plaids, and as always, lots of denim. word on the street is that designer joyce lee was inspired by the southwestern landscape and artist georgia o’keefe. the muted pastels and wide-leg silhouettes are right up my alley and i can’t wait to shop everything once it hits stores. of the 21 looks currently featured on vogue.com, i think outfits number 3, 15 & 21 are the ones i’m most excited for. it may currently be 5 billion degrees but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t pretty pumped for fall.

amazon seagrass belly baskets || leave it to my husband, the bargain shopper that he is (he oftentimes puts me to shame with his ability to find items at their most discounted price) to find the perfect affordable version of the ever-popular seagrass belly basket that you’ve probably noticed all over your instagram feed lately. despite having one (or some) on my wish list for a while, i was unwilling to pay the sometimes $40 price tag. luckily S tracked down a super affordable version on amazon and ordered it on the spot. it arrived this week and it is even better than expected. the best part (besides the fact that our cute little snake plant fit perfectly within its basin)? it cost a whopping $12. needless to say, we’ll probably be ordering one or twelve more. i just need to figure out what to put in them. besides more plants, of course.

in my online shopping cart: trumpet sleeve blouse, polka dot pants, button-front denim skirt & this tank in spice olive

favorite outfits from the week include: kendi’s ruffled dress, liz’s casual outfit (loving abercrombie, too!), alicia’s jumpsuit & julia’s striped pajamas

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

styling my target tee three ways!

planning on going to some of my favorite stores to do a fitting room fables: summer sale edition

casa de rivera update no. 3

an exciting announcement (i’m not pregnant, guys)

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

a mexican feast at home (while it’s so fun to have date night out, i’ve been craving more moments at home lately so we’ll do date night IN this week!)

watching the new iliza shlesinger netflix special

going to costco (on monday) –see above entry 😉

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

the importance of date night

i apologize for the quiet blog activity of late, it’s simply a busy season of life (and the heat isn’t helping to be completely honest, i just want to lounge around in our air conditioned house in my cotton nightgown, top knot, and makeup free). BUT i’m excited to bring you some fresh content next week -including a fun announcement so stay tuned! also can you believe it’s almost august? this year is FLYING which means i’m really trying to make the most out of every ounce of free time.

enjoy the last weekend of july and i’ll see you back on monday.

xoxo
