first day of fall

in case you weren’t aware (i’m sure you knew by the abundance of pumpkin spice latte photos on instagram), the first day of fall was on saturday, september 22nd. though the weather wasn’t as “fall-like” as i would have liked it to be (september in san diego still looks very much like summer), it was chilly enough in the afternoon to wear my new balloon-sleeve sweater.

i love this sweater for two reasons -one, the color is divine. you know my love for mustard runs deep and this shade of what madewell coined as “egyptian gold” is muted yellow perfection. i know mustard isn’t for anyone but i’m just so glad it’s one of those shades that seems to work on my skin tone. if you prefer a different shade, the knit also comes in black, bright scarlett, and bright ivory.

the second reason i love this sweater is for its design. i’m a sucker for a good sleeve detail and the balloon-like silhouette offers just enough character to make it stand out amongst the rest. i am also obsessed with the sweater’s composition -which is a chunkier cotton knit ensuring that it won’t pill with frequent wear. my favorite way to sport it will definitely be front-tucked into denim (as shown in these photos) and/or wide-leg cropped pants, though it would also be cute layered over a midi dress with low-heeled booties.

at under $100, i highly suggest you add it to your fall wardrobe. be forewarned, it’s bound to show up a few more times on the blog before the season is over.

on an unrelated note, i think this might be my new favorite photo shoot to date. my husband nailed these shots and the golden hour lighting was all kinds of magical.

Lovely… the color is great on you. The location is perfect… soft colors to make that sweater just pop. Great job by your mister!
