So I realize that the fact that I, at a time, wore white iridescent eye shadow makes my qualifications for offering beauty advice all but null in void, but I’d like to think I’ve learned from my transgressions.

And if not, well perhaps the talented students at the Bellus Academy in Poway, California can assist me in my beautifying pursuits. Better known as the “Harvard of Beauty Schools,” Bellus Academy offers its students not only a top-level education, but also exposure to some of the most influential leaders in the beauty industry; a combination that has resulted in many of their graduates being placed in some of the highest regarded salons and spas in the world. Furthermore, students are able to put to practice their classroom instruction in the Academy’s on-site salon and spa, an element that not only serves to assist them in acquiring the necessary hours for certification completion, but that also serves the community as services are able to be offered at a fraction of the cost. As a “thank you” to their valued partners in the beauty industry, Bellus Academy recently hosted an appreciation party on Wednesday, May 30th at their Poway campus. Not only were the attendees offered complimentary mini spa services and delicious hors d’oevures, but more importantly, the evening served to honor the Academy’s esteemed industry partners as well as expose both current and prospective students alike to the latest breakthroughs in the beauty and wellness realm with presentations from some of the top trailblazers in the industry.

“This is a once-a-year event where we bring the top spa and salon industry leaders to the academy to network with our students, alumni, staff and each other,” says Joanne Berry, Director of Education and Spa Programs at Bellus Academy. “It’s about bringing everyone together in one place to unite and support each other in our ever-growing industry.”

The three-hour “open house”-esque affair served not only to recognize and cultivate the Academy Salon and Spa’s valued relationships with the top-industry professionals and their companies, but also served as an invaluable opportunity for all attendees to network and further their presence in the competitive beauty marketplace. It isn’t difficult to deduce that much of Bellus Academy’s success can be attributed to their dedication to providing for their own -they not only desire to bring the best technical education to their students and staff, but more importantly, to create sustainable personal bonds that will last long after graduation. It is this attention to the individual as a whole that continually sets Bellus Academy above the rest.
