i’m pretty proud to say that up until two weeks ago, other than a pair of tights at target, i hadn’t purchased a single piece of new clothing this year. i suppose it wasn’t intentional at first, but i have really been making a conscious effort to only add things to my wardrobe that -for lack of seeming too hyperbolic -i simply can’t live without.
and then in the last fourteen days or so, i’ve added three new items. whoopsies. but i must say, all three of these pieces are sure to become staples in my closet -they can be mixed and matched, dressed up or down, and one these garments will probably make an appearance at an upcoming wedding or two.
my favorite of the three was bought just this past friday on my way home from work. i had seen it online and immediately called the store to reserve it in my size. it’s loft’s answer to springtime casual -a peony covered grey sweatshirt, as cozy as it is chic. and considering the fact that peonies are my favorite flower, i knew i had to make it mine. it’s fairly lightweight, so it would be great as a layering piece over a button-down chambray paired with dark denim skinny jeans now and come the warmer months, it would be adorable paired alone with my white madewell boyfriend jeans and a gladiator sandal.
i know i’ve said fall is my favorite season (for personal and sartorial reasons), but i always forget how happy spring clothes make me, too. so if i was going to break my shopping fast for anything, this peony sweatshirt was a great place to start.
