happy may day, everyone! it’s the start of another month and i’m excited to see what the next 31 days has in store. this weekend’s plans are a little of this and a little of that -teaching my usual classes tomorrow morning, and subbing sunday’s 4:15 p.m. class, too. i also plan on taking some unwanted clothes to flashbacks in hopes of making a little fun money, hopefully hitting the range again with S to perfect our golf swings, and perhaps what i’m most excited about -an acai bowl date with my love at honey’s. so before we kick-off the next two days of freedom, here are the half dozen things that have me seeing hearts this week:

one || quality over quantity. i swear sometimes God is teaching a few of us the same lesson at the same time. in doing my usual perusal of my friend, R’s blog, i came across her recent post about quality over quantity. i literally had a similar conversation with S earlier this week about how i hadn’t felt inspired in my writing and that most days, i posted something just for the sake of posting new material. i was more concerned about quantity over quality and somewhere along the way, i forgot why i started a blog in the first place. if you’ve been following along in my musings for a while, you know that this little plot of internet real estate has gone through a few transformations -in terms of aesthetics with a jazzy new layout, and definitely in terms of content -from tales of singlehood to essentially a diary of my life with S. accordingly, my life is a lot fuller -with an extra job, a relationship, more responsibilities, and yet, just as many hours in the day. there are times when i feel like i’m letting you down by not having a pithy post to share or a non-selfie photograph of that day’s outfit. but the truth is, i want to be proud of what i share with you. i want to hit “publish” and get excited for you to read what i have written. and sometimes i simply don’t have the a) time or b) inspiration to produce the quality posts i expect and you deserve. so i’m going to let myself be okay with not posting for a few days if the mood so strikes me. i’m going to focus on the quality of my posts rather than the quantity. this has and always will be my happy place and i want to be sure that sharing my thoughts here isn’t a chore, but rather something i truly look forward to doing.

two || wine country wishin’. confession: i have a huge girl crush on julia engel of fashion blog “gal meets glam” fame. one, she’s stunning, two, she gets to gallivant all over the world (with her photographer husband in tow) and three, she has the most enviable wardrobe ever. this week she posted her tips for “packing for wine country” and not only did i immediately want all of her key pieces, more importantly, it made me so excited for S and my upcoming trip to san francisco and (fingers crossed) day trip to napa.

three || good mail day. three cheers for the shipping department at j.crew factory corporate. just days after placing the order for my new neutral goodies, they arrived this week! of the four items, i’m over the moon about three of them -this dress is everything i hoped it would be and more, as are these chic and comfy flats that will undoubtedly be on heavy rotation. not pictured but equally loved are the white denim roll-up shorts, that, as expected, make me feel like a bronzed goddess. the only miss was the simple grey v-neck tee. it wasn’t as blousy as i preferred and therefore it’s going back to the store. but other than that minor “miss,” it was a good week for mail, and more importantly, for my wardrobe, too.

new dress & shoes

four || it’s gonna be may. every year without fail on april 30th, the internet reminds us all that pronunciation matters. who knew when justin timberlake pronounced “me” like “may” in ‘n sync’s popular single, “it’s gonna be me” off their hit record, no strings attached it would become a meme mainstay for years to come? now 15 years later, it still manages to make me chuckle every time the month of may rolls around again.

five || jebby’s first haircut. at 21 months, my sweet little nephew got his first haircut this week! and oh my ovaries, is he not just the handsomest? all of the heart-eyed emojis, y’all.

six || cheers to 21 years! 21 years ago today, my parents were married on a hornblower yacht cruising the san diego bay. with gapped front teeth and freckles, i carefully made my way down the tiny aisle in my floral bridesmaid dress and flower crown. it was truly a magical day. as has been every day to proceed it. i swear those two just fall deeper in love with each passing year and it’s a blessing and an example for how i’d like to be two decades from now. so happy anniversary to my favorite love birds, here’s to 21 more! (and happy 10 month anniversary to my love bird and i who will ring in another month of love on sunday).

Two things – you were sooooo ahead of the times with your flower crown!! And your quality vs quantity point reminded me of un-fancy’s recent post!
