happy memorial day weekend! hopefully this very un-summery weather gets it together before tomorrow, but even if it’s destined to be a dreary holiday, i’m just excited that we get an extra day for sleeping in. aside from classes, a friend’s bbq (which hopefully the rain won’t spoil) and an early birthday dinner for my momma, S and i don’t have too much planned for the next three days. if the sun breaks through on sunday, we might gear up for a hike or bike ride along the coast and i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t hoping to take advantage of a few memorial day sales at the forum, too.

how ever you’re kicking-off the summer season, i hope you enjoy every minute of your extra day away from the office. it was a long and busy week, but here are the things that kept me smiling.

one || eenie, meenie, miney, toe. garth brooks once said he had friends in low places, well i’m happy i have studio barre clients in toe places. earlier this week, one of my super awesome tuckers gifted me three new pairs of toesox. she does marketing for the company so she was kind enough to share the wealth. if you haven’t tried/heard of toesox, they’re basically gloves for your feet -each little toe gets its own compartment. having tried them when i first started taking barre classes, i wasn’t a fan. but after wearing one of my new pairs to class on two different occasions this week, i think i’m starting to warm up to the idea of having fabric between my toes -especially since having my toes exposed makes holding the plank position a heck of a lot easier!

two || joy of violet. last saturday after classes, i snuck down to visit my sweet friend M and her new baby girl violet joy. oh my stars was it good for my soul -not only to reconnect with M, with whom i hadn’t seen in months(!) but to also meet her seven-week old bundle who is seriously beautiful. maybe i’ve been around too many toddlers lately, but i had forgotten just how widdle we are when we enter into the world. baby V was such a little peanut! i accompanied momma and baby on a walk around the neighborhood. as we strolled, we exchanged stories about life and motherhood and the goodness of God’s blessings and timing. i’ve been fortunate to watch many of my friends become mothers over the years and i must say, it is such a wonderful thing to witness. as expected, M is a complete natural and i feel grateful to walk alongside her in this new chapter of her life. friendships like hers certainly make my little world a little sweeter.

(this isn’t M & baby V, just a sweet shot from the interwebs)

four || two bachelorettes, one show… who stays, who goes? i discovered long ago that i’m not nearly as clever enough to turn this into a bachelor/ette recap blog every time a new season rolls around, but since we had THE MOST DRAMATIC SEASON YET premiere on monday and tuesday, i figured i’d go ahead and tell you that a) i’ve decided to watch this season (i dipped in and out of chris’ quest to find love) b) i’ve already read a bunch of spoilers (whoopsies) and c) the thing i’m probably most excited for are the recaps/mentions of the show on my favorite podcast. so in case you, too are following kaitlyn’s journey to find love, i thought i’d point you to the best show recapper around (in my humble opinion) –lincee of i hate green beans fame.  she crushes it every time.

five || desert dreaming. while watching last sunday’s billboard music awards, S and i started dreaming of our next getaway. with two trips already solidified this summer, our next out-of-town stay probably won’t be until the fall, but it’s never too early to plan, right? after minimal discussion, we landed upon a decision –palm springs! though plans have yet to be fully solidified, i am already dreaming up a list of things for us to do: grabbing a margarita and guac at las casuelas, visiting the cabazon outlets, indulging in a spa treatment, and definitely salvation mountain for the first time. i can’t wait!

six || if guys vacationed like girls. speaking of vacationing, this video was featured on one of my favorite blogs this week and it’s hilarious (and true!).

on that note, have a wonderful holiday weekend. see you back here next week!
