of all of the trends to come back in recent years, the one i’ve waffled with the most is the return of my 7th grade uniform -denim overalls. after trying on a pair at madewell in preparation for my first insider event, i definitely felt nostalgic for my mid-90’s self (minus the bangs and bad skin). but in assessing my current lifestyle, i knew a pair of overalls would just sit in my closet 80% of the time. and therefore, i did the adult thing and practiced some shopping restraint.

and then something magical happened. in the midst of my recent closet purge, i remembered an item that i had purchased (ironically, also from madewell) last spring (of 2014) – a linen jumpsuit that definitely gave off an “overall” vibe. quickly i began dreaming of ways to incorporate it into my fall wardrobe rotation. and just like that, kendi (of kendi everyday) featured a post on styling her new pair of overalls and i had all the inspiration i needed.

bottom line? when in doubt, add stripes.

that should probably be stitched on a pillow somewhere.

outfit details:

denim jumpsuit | madewell (old, similar)
black & white striped tee | j.crew (similar)
suede booties | sam edelman
felt hat | target (similar)

p.s. linking up with more pieces of me sincerely jenna marie

When in doubt, add stripes! YES! I totally agree, and while I have not jumped back on the overalls bandwagon (yet), you sure do make a good argument for why I should!

Haha, thanks lady! I’m trying to hold off for as long as possible but the ones from Madewell are SO cute, I’m hoping maybe they’ll go on sale over the Holidays and I can better justify making them mine. Xoxo
