holiday looks 5 & 6

i’ve never been a procrastinator. if anything, i’m a procrastinator’s complete antithesis. if an assignment was due friday, i’d have it finished by monday night. though viewed as a bit extreme by my peers, it certainly made high school a lot less stressful.

but english papers aside, there is one area of my life where i occasionally let the whole “waiting until the last minute” thing get the best of me. and that’s in the realm of holiday shopping. and that’s mostly because i blink and it’s december 15th and oh my gosh we have ten days to buy everyone gifts and wrap them and wait, did that sweater just go on sale? but not this year, this year, S and i did a bulk of our shopping online -taking advantage of both the black friday and cyber monday sales. 21st century luxuries, ftw!

i’m not gonna lie though, despite the crowds and lines and the nightmare that is a mall parking lot, there is something pretty thrilling about braving the stores this time of year. so if you plan on getting your shop on in-person (good for you!), here are two full-proof shopping ensembles that will not only make you feel festive, but will -more importantly -keep you comfortable all day long.

side note style tip: if you’re like me, you don’t want to worry about carrying a purse when you’re juggling a half dozen shopping bags. so whenever i hit the mall, i always transfer over my purse from my everyday tote to a crossbody bag. not only is it hands free, its worn close to the body so you can keep a close eye on those valuables. though an investment, this marc jacobs crossbody bag has become a mainstay in my accessory wardrobe. not only is it perfect for shopping days, it’s a must-pack for vacations, too!

this time of year, my basic uniform is jeans + plaid button-down. it’s easy, it’s comfy, weather-appropriate, yet still cute. though i was on the fence on embracing the return of the flare jean, i’ll admit, i’m quite pleased they now own a space in my closet (especially now that they are properly hemmed). if you’re planning on trying on clothes on your holiday shopping trip (there’s nothing wrong with treating yoself with an early christmas gift!), a button-down is a great option. you don’t have to worry about getting makeup on the collar of your shirt from pulling it on and off and bonus -no white deodorant marks! (am i the only one that gets these?).

unlike the first look, this one isn’t as dressing room friendly (sequins + long hair = may cause tangles). this is an outfit to wear to run those last minute holiday errands -picking up another can of pumpkin pie filling, buying a few more rolls of wrapping paper, standing in line at anthropologie to purchase the perfect hostess gift. yes, it could be deemed as a little dressy for just a target run, but it’s the holidays! if you’re going to have to deal with grumpy sales associates and people taking up more than one parking space in a packed lot, you might as well look cute, right?

outfit details:

polka dot sequin top | j.crew (similar)
high-riser skinny skinny jeans in lunar wash | madewell
flats | j.crew factory (similar)
crossbody bag | marc jacobs
red lip | bareminerals marvelous moxie lipstick in “risk it all”

tune in tomorrow for looks to wear on christmas eve/christmas day!

and refresh yourself with looks one & two || three & four.

xoxo
