ASOI: weekend style

i feel like i’m still adjusting to the weather in san diego after nearly a week of chicago’s chilly temps. and though it is significantly warmer here than in the windy city, may grey is alive and well and making it hard to grab for tanks and cut-offs just yet. so this weekend i mixed seasonal wear -opting for one winter piece with something bound to get heavy rotation in my summer wardrobe.

on saturday, i juxtaposed my favorite flannel with my pair of white boyfriend denim for a fresh nod to the upcoming memorial day holiday. and on sunday, with a trip to the san diego zoo in our plans, i went for a neutral palette of layered pieces. that way if the marine layer burnt off by the afternoon, i could find reprieve by removing my knit cardigan and tying it around my waist. since i knew we’d be on our feet most of the day, i left my d’orsay flats at home and opted for my sleek sneakers, instead. from the neck down, the ensemble was a version of something i wore often late last year, so to give it a springtime “pop,” i finished off the look with my favorite fedora (which may or may not have also doubled as a shield for some unruly unwashed hair).

I like both looks. I think the flannel with white jeans just popped. You look gorgeous. (Welcome back home.)
