denim on denim

i threw this combo on to do a quick sushi run on saturday night because a) it was WAY too hot to cook and b) sushi is delicious. i’ve been experimenting with tying button-downs around my waist lately and i love how easily it creates an hourglass shape on an otherwise billowy silhouette. now that i think about it, i feel like the shirt-around-the-waist is the new belt-over-clothes. i fell hard for that trend a few years back and i’m still recovering from it.

at any rate, i’m a sucker for denim on denim. it was too dang hot for jeans, so i swapped out my favorite pair of skinnies for a denim dress instead and cinched my waist with my favorite chambray. the secret to not looking like britney/justin circa the 2001 AMA’s is to make sure your denims are different washes. i love the contrast of the dark denim against the light. i finished off the look with my glitter sandals and a big straw hat because let’s be honest, i hadn’t washed my hair since last sunday when i got a blowout for my engagement pictures. speaking of those, they are coming next week and let me just say this, i’m sorry i’m not sorry in advance for the photo bombardment you’re about to experience. we are so smitten with them and hope you are, too! enjoy your weekend!

I’ve never worn denim on denim but it looks great. You make casual chic combos so easily. I love this look on you.
