i just realized that thanksgiving is NEXT week. how on earth did that happen?! i haven’t even mentally prepared myself for all of the delicious food i’m about to consume!
but today’s post isn’t about cranberry sauce and pie. it’s about my love for the holiday palette -rich greens, deep reds, gold, plaid, and sparkle. though i have done my best to build my current wardrobe on the foundation of neutrals, i can’t help but pull out some of the richer hues this time of year.
while i had hoped the bout of cold weather would last us at least through thanksgiving, we had another heat wave this past week/weekend so my dreams of cozying up in my favorite plaid and booties were kind of thwarted. until i realized i could still wear my plaid button-down just in a more unconventional kind of way. i decided to tie the shirt around my waist and from there, i built the palette for the rest of my outfit. i played up the colors in the tartan print by adding my newest hat (last seen here) and velvet flats that i snagged a couple years on sale at madewell (i’ve linked this season’s version below). a touch of wood element in my necklace gave the look a bit of an earthy vibe that i’m really feeling for fall.
a fun story to prove that sometimes things don’t always go as planned. we had stopped by a local trail to shoot this outfit at golden hour on our way to pick-up sushi. i assumed my blogger pose position, bracing myself for the click of the camera. unfortunately, the camera battery was dead. womp womp. so we improvised. S shot these photos on my beloved iphone and i used my favorite apps to edit them accordingly. how’s that for teamwork?
