sailor pants & sequins

in honor of christmas being just three days away, i wanted to feature an ensemble that to me just screams “holiday!” i mentioned yesterday that the wide-leg trouser is my new favorite silhouette, and for good reason. i actually picked these up before i purchased my second pair after seeing them on one of my favorite bloggers. i loved their nautical vibe and the gold detail on the buttons. these sailor pants were the product of madewell’s recent collaboration with french brand, sezane, a label i have come to look to for effortless sophistication and impeccable tailoring.

obviously with the holidays on the immediate horizon, i decided to style these pants on the fancier side. and to me nothing says “oh, you fancy, huh?” more than some sparkle. i’ve had this sequin top for years and while it hardly gets much wear other than just around christmas and new year’s, i just can’t seem to part with it. and good thing because it ended up being the perfect compliment to the gold buttons! while i’m not usually one to gravitate toward pants, espcially in the midst of party dress season, this is a look i would highly consider sporting to a christmas party or even on new year’s eve. who knew this girl could love pants? just goes to show you, it just takes the right silhouette.

i plan on popping in for a quick hello over the weekend but in case i don’t “see” you, i want to take a moment to wish you a very merry christmas. may your celebrations be filled with whimsy and wonder and the warmth of loved ones. and most importantly, may you pause to remember the true reason for this magical season -our savior, jesus christ.

xoxo,

SL

Another fabulous outfit. I need Santa to bring me a thesaurus so I can use different words for PERFECT. You look lovely. Merry Christmas to you and S.

Hey! I just bought these from Madewell on sale for $47 but I’m unsure how to style them without having to tuck in tops (muffin top probs!) Any suggestions?

Hi! Love that you got them for a steal 🙂 If you prefer to wear tops that don’t have to be tucked in, I might suggest a top that’s a little on the cropped side. After wearing them in these photos, I actually got these pants taken in quite a bit so they would sit properly at my waist (as opposed to on my hips) and it has made it a lot easier to pair them with tops whose hem is not quite as long. A cute cropped sweater would be perfect as we enter into the fall season (J.Crew and Everlane have great options) or even a peplum style blouse that flares out at the waist. Feel free to email me using the contact form for more tips! Good luck and happy styling 🙂

      xo
