every year the women of new york leave the past behind and look forward for the future. this is known as fashion week.
the one and only carrie bradshaw
last week the fashion industry’s elite gathered in the big apple for start of new york fashion week. because fashion always works months ahead, designers showed off their collections for the upcoming fall season. while it’s hard for me to get excited about cold-weather clothing while i’m stuck here pining away for spring’s delayed arrival, i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t always a teeny bit interested to see what some of my favorite designers have on the horizon -mainly my beloved j.crew. after an impressive showing for their spring/summer collection last september, i had high hopes for fall’s fare. and from the peeks i got on instagram (i love that they show behind the scenes footage in real time to their followers!), our closests will sure to be thanking us (our wallets not so much) once the leaves change again.
unlike the ethereal-like qualities and pastel-rich color palette of their spring collection, j.crew’s fall collection boasts rich textures (hello velvet!), jewel tones, and even playful patterns (looking at you, camouflage). i love the abundance of color and how effortlessly everything was styled. and in keeping with its success from their last campaign, the company yet again incorporated real people to model the clothes.
here are some of my favorite looks of the collection:
