it’s friday, i’m in love || 4/14/17

if you’ve been reading shawna leeann for a while, you may remember a weekly series i called “it’s friday, i’m in love” in which showcased random things i was loving on any given week. topics ranged from my excitement over the beginning of football season to a new local restaurant i was dying to try. it was a place to capture my random thoughts and feelings about things i had seen, read, tasted, or bought over the previous seven days, as well as a place to share personal anecdotes and the occasional photo.

well i’ve decided to resurrect the series with a few changes. the items of which i’ll recount will mostly be fashion/beauty related. i plan on including things like sale alerts, recent purchases, beauty product reviews, as well as things that may or may not be idling in my online shopping cart. i might even include a few outfits from fellow bloggers that i swooned over that week. i also plan on including a recap of the current week’s posts and a preview of what is to come the following week. that way you’re sure to not miss a beat. my intention is for these posts to be a little happy to kick-off your weekend, so let’s get started with the first of what i hope to be many.

this friday, i’m in love with:

bareminerals bareskin concealer || after recently watching liz’s (of sequins & stripes) make-up tutorial, i noticed that one of her must-have products was bareminerals bareskin complete coverage concealer. i was actually in the market for a new one so i marched myself right into ulta and purchased a tube in the shade “light.” i’ve been using it for a couple weeks now and i’m pretty obsessed. it provides non-cakey coverage around the under eye but also disguises pesky breakouts like a champ. i dab a dot or two on the problem area and let it sit for a moment before blending it in with my fingers. i can’t recommend it enough.

my new jean jacket || you may remember in monday’s post, i mentioned i had just ordered this jacket from j.crew factory and was anxiously awaiting its arrival. well it popped up on our doorstep this week and it fits like a glove (i ordered a small for reference). it’s the perfect medium wash with just enough stretch to give it a flattering silhouette (not boxy like many jackets tend to be). i can’t wait to wear it all summer long, and of course, on our honeymoon. oh and guess what? it’s currently 50% off.

the shopbop sale || speaking of sales, shopbop is having a pretty epic one. through tonight, save up to 25% when you use the code EVENT17. the skirt from yesterday’s post is currently on sale as are a bunch of madewell goodies (i’ll take this, this, and these, please!) and a few dozen other amazing items that would look great in my spring wardrobe including this, this, this, this, this, this, and these.

my tailor || what i’m finding in my older age is how important the fit of your clothes really is. a well-tailored pair of pants/skirt/shorts/blouse can really make a big difference in your overall confidence. so after a few items in my closet were feeling a little baggy (and in turn, kind of unflattering), i took them to my local tailor to help make them right. in a week’s time, he had totally transformed all four garments, fitting them perfectly to my body. for all of $50, i left with items that now feel like entirely new pieces in my closet and i can’t wait to restyle them for the upcoming season. so let this be a PSA to you and yours. find yourself a good tailor who can make your clothes work for you. a $15 adjustment can translate into making you feel like a million bucks.

favorite outfits from the week include:

liz’s denim on denim, julia’s little white dress, alicia’s western-inspired look, crystalin marie’s neutral springtime outfit, and blaire’s bows upon bows ensemble

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

everlane has been stepping it up lately and i’ll be sharing my favorite pieces from their new collection (like these!)

the story behind finally making these pants mine is a fun one and i can’t wait to style them this weekend!

a two-part easter recap

and of course, the next installment of it’s friday, i’m in love

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

shopping for new light fixtures with the hubs (our top choices include this one & this one)

spending date night here (crispy brussels sprouts, please and thank you!)

going on a good-old fashioned easter egg hunt in my parents back yard

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

my wishlist for our upcoming honeymoon

bows & gingham

cold shoulders, long skirts (both pieces in the post are on sale here & here)

have a wonderful weekend and even better and blessed easter celebrations! He is risen!

I’m so happy you’re bring back It’s Friday, I’m in Love!! I glanced at your picks and thought the Shopbop Madewell cold shoulder dress was darling. The page also showed a Shopbop (BB Dakota) Marla cold should dress that has a lot of dainty detail. I thought that little dress was pretty nice, too.
Thanks for the splash of colorful flowers to open “It’s Friday” – I really enjoyed it. Have a fabulous.
