this friday, i’m in love with…

prepping for our honeymoon || yesterday marked just one month(!) until our glorious two-week vacation. while i haven’t pulled out the luggage quite yet (give me a couple weeks and the outfit planning will definitely be in full force), i have started making a mental note of all of the things (toiletries, snacks, etc.) that i want to be sure we pick-up before pre-travel anxiety sets in). one said thing is a bag to carry around our essentials (wallets, travel documents, camera, etc) while we’re out and exploring throughout the day. i toyed with the idea of getting a large tote to carry over my shoulder but opted ultimately for a canvas backpack since S might be tasked with carrying it, too. i just ordered this one from everlane and from the looks of it, it’ll be perfect for hauling around our necessities. it also looks extremely durable which is obviously important for an item that is bound to experience wear and tear. i’ll report back when it actually arrives next week! p.s. madewell also has a cute version in canvas and black.

other items on our checklist include: downloading another book to my kindle for plane reading (any good recommendations?), picking up plenty of gluten free pretzels, raw almond packs, and RX bars in case i get in a bind for food options, ordering more of my favorite sunscreen, and finding some simple black sports bras (why are these so hard to find for small-chested women?).

new ways to wear bandanas || as you can see from recent posts (here and here), i’ve embraced the bandana trend whole-heartedly. the most common wear i sport them is as a neck scarf, but over the past couple weeks i’ve done some experimenting and have started wearing them in my hair like a headband. i love the retro vibe they give to any outfit, not to mention the fact that they disguise dirty hair 😉 i also have been really into tying one around the handle of my bag. as you have probably noticed, i hardly swap out my everyday tote (my leather madewell bag goes everywhere with me!) so adding a bandana instantly makes it feel fresh and new.

j.crew’s newest summer arrivals || we’re heading into the first official week of summer (next week) so to celebrate, j.crew just released a whole new crop of new arrivals. of course i want like 56 things. just kidding, only this top which i just ordered using my birthday promo (a perk of being a j.crew card member!). but there are a ton of fun prints and silhouettes to keep you outfitted all season long. below are my favorite pieces, perfect for packing up with you on your next vacation:

favorite outfits from the week include: julia’s retro look, blaire’s red & white striped dress, liz’s summery maxi dress, and jacey’s three denim looks

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

off-the-shoulder chambray (this dress!)

adding rust to a neutral wardrobe

exploring the jenni kayne store (maker of this glorious piece)

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

celebrating father’s day with a lunch date at lido marina village

finally trying out crack shack

printing out some wedding photos to update frames in our home

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

statement sleeves

my favorite straw hats

summer trend: critters & fruit

have a wonderful weekend celebrating the wonderful fathers and father-figures in your life. see you next week!

xo

I love the Everlane tote that you selected. It looks nice and seems quite practical. (Alan and I have been reading-for years-the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. You might want to consider that author for your trip. Love the bandana for your hair… you can pull off just about any style.
