end of summer, not quite fall

2 Permalink 5

we’re entering a time of the year when i start wishing away one season in anticipation of the next. for not being one who does well in the heat, i have found myself enjoying this summer more than in previous years. regardless, i would be lying if i said i wasn’t very much looking forward to fall and all that the season brings (yes, all of the cliche things that you’d expect me to list -including pumpkins and scarves and boots and football and spaghetti squash being regularly sold at trader joe’s).

the only trouble with yearning for fall -in san diego especially -is that our “fall” weather” (aka sub 70-degree temperatures) doesn’t really show up until mid-october/november, if it even shows up at all (oftentimes we get an indian summer, along with santa ana winds!). SO sometimes you have to find a happy medium when dressing for the in between. for me, that translates into pairing elements from each season -in this case some summer eyelet with some autumn suede.

i first mentioned this eyelet top in this post, and i’ll reiterate again, it’s even better in person. the long sleeves will make it perfect for wearing into fall, but for now, the eyelet fabric makes it light-weight enough to sport on sunny days. it also comes in navy, but i opted for ivory since i love how well it pairs with denim of all washes. at its core, this outfit is just an elevated white tee and jeans, with a touch of bohemian. i wore this look on a date night with my husband and parents last weekend. if you could only see the lengths we took to snap these photos (insert laughing/crying emoji here) –wandering around the village of rancho santa fe looking for the perfect backdrop. thankfully we stumbled across a few good ones! (bless my family for supporting this passion).

but seriously, snag this top.

This shoot was so fun because we got to see “behind the scenes”. Your photographer is not only talented, but very witty. I think you settled on some perfect backdrops. The “looking” was one of my favorite parts of the evening.
