i don’t think there is a single lady in the world that would rank jeans shopping as one of her favorite things to do. while it might be slightly less terrorizing than bathing suit shopping, it’s definitely a daunting task.
but shopping for a new pair of denim has become a whole lot more enjoyable since i discovered madewell. denim is their “thing” and they take their duty very seriously. their jeans are cut to flatter and enhance what your momma already gave ya (if you know what i mean). and in a weird turn of events, the very activity i’ve previously loathed has become a joyful occasion. especially when i landed upon these button-fly jeans.
i had seen these 10″ high-rise skinny jeans (with a playful chewed hem) online and watched them sell out twice(!) before i could snag them (i blame the thanksgiving weekend sales). i figured i had missed the boat entirely until a trip to the madewell store produced a rogue pair in my size! kismet! you know from my latest fitting room fables that it was love upon first button-up and i haven’t taken them off since (well that’s not entirely true, this is the first time i’m actually wearing them in public but you know what i mean). they are so dang flattering and the wash is perfect for everyday wear. i took my regular size and they fit comfortably right below my navel.
since we experienced a mini heat wave last weekend (santa anas are the worst), i got to wear one of my new striped ribbed tees i recently purchased from j.crew. i couldn’t decide between the powder blue & copper stripe combination and the ivory and navy stripe so i got them both (they were 40% off so i felt justified!). i’ll admit that the fabric is a little on the stiff side, but the adorable ruffled sleeve detailing convinced me to keep them. i plan on wearing them with everything from jeans to skirts to wide-leg crops.
