dressed up black on black

our holiday events tend to err on the casual side, so this year, my parents planned on taking S and i out before the christmas whirlwind so we could have the opportunity to get a little fancy. we headed out to our favorite restaurant, vintana, for brussels sprouts (my favorite!) and delicious cocktails (and proper dinners, of course) and i took it as a reason to get extra mileage out of this gorgeous top.

as i mentioned in this post, i’m more of a non-traditionalist when it comes to dressing for the holidays -no red or green in these parts! so for a fancy christmas eve eve dinner, i decided to go all black everything. an easy tip for dressing this time of year is for keeping your palette in the same color or tone. if an all black or all white ensemble seems less festive, try an outfit of pink tones (like this madewell look), or shades of blue (denim on denim can’t be beat!). dressing monochromatically (is that a word?) kind of takes the guess work out of things and during the holidays, and we could all use one less thing to worry about, right?

I love this look on you. I’ll bet a few ladies were memorizing what you wore so they could imitate it. Great location to show off the b/b outfit. Just lovely.

You’re too sweet! Thank you very much. We’ve deemed this location our “secret spot” and in just continues to deliver on the backdrop and lighting. xoxo
