this friday, i’m in love with…

this denim kimono || have you ever heard of the brand & other stories? i hadn’t either until very recently when i saw it pop up on more than one of my daily blog reads. founded in 2010, the online store features designs from three ateliers from paris, los angeles, and stockholm. not only do the collections include unique designs, they’re also affordably priced. right now i have my eye on this denim kimono -a refreshing take on the classic denim jacket. i love the tie-waist detail and how chic it would look layered over a simple white tee and black jeans.

an easy salmon recipe || anyone who has attempted to cook fish at home probably has a horror story or two. i vividly remember trying to bake a piece of sea bass in the oven probably close to eight years ago and the entire house smelled like sea world for at least three days (shudder). these days i resort to outsourcing my fish-cooking to either my husband (he usually cooks it on the grill) or to the fine chefs at jimbo’s, whole foods, and any other restaurant we go to for date night. BUT recently i stumbled upon a recipe so full-proof, i think i might even be able to do (sans fish fumigation of our condo). it’s from @shutthekaleup, one of my favorite foodie instagram accounts. cook salmon in avocado (or coconut) oil, pink himalayan sea salt, black pepper, coconut aminos, lemon, and garlic at 375 for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. S was nice enough to test-drive the recipe on monday night and the salmon turned out perfectly. i plan on cooking it myself this sunday for next week’s meals.

everlane underwear || the sustainable brand is at it again, this time taking the undergarment world by storm. everlane will launch its first underwear line on monday, march 26th and i for one am very intrigued by the company’s latest development. read more about the new campaign here.

fresh sugar tinted lip treatment in “petal” || per the recommendation of my favorite blogger, julia engel of gal meets glam, i recently picked up this lip tint in the “petal” shade. the formula is super moisturizing with a smooth application in the perfect subtle shade of pink. it’s now my go-to lip color when i want a little color on my lips. bonus? it also contains SPF 15!

favorite outfits from the week include: julia’s gingham set, alicia’s spring blouses, kendi’s wrap dress, shannon’s ruffled top, mary’s denim dress & blaire’s polka dot jumpsuit

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

block sandals styled two ways

national stripes day is march 31st! so i’ll be sharing some of my favorite striped looks

and speaking of stripes, i plan on wearing this dress to our date on saturday and i can’t wait!

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

date night here (can’t wait to finally try it!)

visiting a new-to-us coffee shop

having a sweet friend try out my saturday morning barre class

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

pretty little things for spring

items on my splurge list

zucchini & bacon cauliflower pizza

i apologize for the lack of real outfits on the blog this week. we shoot looks exclusively on the weekends and we indulged in a rather lazy one last weekend so that meant no new content. as i mentioned above, i’m hoping to get out and about this weekend to shoot a couple outfits styled with these new sandals. and maybe this dress, too. the unpredictable weather has been making it difficult to plan, but i’m determined to get some fresh ensembles up on the blog, so stay tuned.

on another front altogether, i wanted to provide a mini update on our house hunt. basically we don’t have an update. since last november/december, we’ve probably seen about 15 houses. in january, we were certain we had found our dream home and even put an offer in, but with 19 other offers (!) to compete against, we eventually lost out. since then, we’ve been pretty picky with what we’ll consider, just because we know the caliber of house that is out there. everyone says that spring/early summer is a great time to look as people are always looking to sell before the school year ends so they can move over the summer, so we’re crossing our fingers that more inventory comes up soon. in the meantime, we are religiously checking zillow, redfin, and trulia daily (multiple times a day sometimes) and keeping our search in our daily prayers. we know the perfect home is out there for us, it’s just stuck in traffic (if you catch that reference, i know you’re a longtime reader!).

anyway, have a wonderful weekend and i’ll see you next week!

xo
