it’s friday, i’m in love || 9/7/18

this friday i’m in love with…

e.l.f. complexion brush || while i’ll never claim to be a beauty blogger, i do have a great makeup-related recommendation. i was recently in need of a new brush for my loose powder and stumbled upon the perfect one from the e.l.f. brand. the best part? it’s $4.00! p.s. i found mine at target (of course i did).

pbfit || i shared this product in my costco haul this week but i wanted to call it out again since i actually sampled it with some unsweetened coconut yogurt (a great dairy alternative if you love a good berry and granola bowl) for a little after-dinner snack and oh em gee, it’s amazing! it tastes SO peanut buttery (almost more than actual peanut butter if that makes sense?) kind of like the inside of a reeses. i can’t wait to experiment with it more -adding it to my smoothie and topping it on a serving of chia seed pudding.

dr. death podcast || the same network that brought you the gripping podcast, dirty john (cannot wait for the series to come to bravo!), has a new horrifying tale to tell. the dr. death series highlights the true story of a texas neurosurgeon whose medical practices left his 33 patients maimed, paralyzed or even dead. as terrifying as it sounds, i’m also very intrigued. though i tend to listen to lighter fare (love me a real housewives breakdown podcast of course), i also love a true crime story every now and then. however, i have a feeling i’ll only allow myself to listen to this during daytime hours 😉

speaking of crime stories… it was announced this week that season three of the cultural phenomenon that is the serial podcast premieres september 20th and i’ve never been more excited to hear sarah koenig’s voice again (it’s SO soothing!).

and of course…

funemployment! || no need for explanation 😉

in my online shopping cart: these mules, this and this bow hair accessory & this polka dot tee

favorite outfits from the week include: julia’s tuscany outfits, alicia’s sweaters & jess’s stripes

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

my recent costco haul (currently saved under the “grocery haul” highlight in my instagram stories)

the t-shirt you need in your closet ASAP

try-on at abercrombie

casa de rivera update no. 5

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

going to S’s cousin’s wedding (it’s going to be HOT but i get to wear cowboy boots so i’m excited!)

shopping for a NEW work wardrobe for S (if he’s up for it, i might document it in my stories!)

pretending it’s fall with my new cinnamun pecan buns candle (on sale at michael’s right now) and a sunday full of football

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

cardigans for fall

fitting room fables || target august 2018

fitting room fables || madewell september 2018

well it was the first official week of my new season of life and i have to say it was the best four (not counting labor day since it was a holiday) days in recent memory. i am taking to “retirement” like a duck to water and at the risk of sounding trite, i truly feel like i’m living my best life. i want to sincerely thank everyone who has extended well wishes in the last week and who has offered their love, encouragement, and support. it truly means the world and i’m so excited that y’all are on this journey with me. and if you’re new to these parts -welcome! i’m so glad you’re here. friends new and old, i can’t wait to share more bits and pieces of my new life with you as well as continue to share more casual style. stay tuned for fun things to come!

and on that note, have the best weekend. i’ll see you back on monday!

as always, you can follow along via instagram (@shawnaleeann) -i’ll be sharing more from our weekend’s activities.

xoxo
