it’s friday, i’m in love || 10/26/18

this friday, i’m in love with…

getting glasses! || as evidenced by the photo above (and the subsequent instagram post), i had my first ever proper eye exam on wednesday and learned that i have astigmatism and need prescription glasses! after years of secretly yearning for frames, this latest development in the joy that is aging, actually has me quite excited. so excited that the minute i got home from my appointment, i hopped onto warby parker’s website and immediately ordered five frames to sample from their amazing at-home try-on service. i’ll definitely be sharing more in a future blogpost, so stay tuned! help me find my perfect pair of glasses 🙂

jeans || i’m a woman on a mission and that mission is new denim! after my second attempt at finding the perfect pair of everlane jeans ultimately fell flat (sadly i didn’t 1000% love any of the three pairs i tried and i’m a firm believer that your clothes -especially your jeans -should make you feel like beyonce every time you them on), i decided to order two different pairs from j.crew instead. i am shipping these toothpick jeans and this high-rise boyfriend pair to my local store in hopes that one or both pairs are winners. if not, i can just return them right then and there (i LOVE shipping items directly to the store because it saves me a step if they don’t work out).

shark tank || you guys, S and i are OBSESSED with watching old episodes of shark tank! cnbc plays marathons and i swear we watch at least two or three episodes a night! since most of the pitches are from 2012 or 2013, it’s fun to see where the companies stand now five, six years later. we actually recently watched the episode that featured the creator of ring (which we have and LOVE) –at the time of the pitch his company was named “doorbot.” the sharks kind of tore jamie siminoff to shreds and all five sharks ultimately passed on investing in his then start-up. looks like the jokes on them because ring was bought by amazon for a cool billion dollars.

p.s. if you’re also a fan of shark tank, you might love this bit from my favorite comedian iliza shlesinger. S and i quote it all the time -“hi sharks.”  (NSFW)

in my online shopping cart: i want everything from madewell’s latest collection –this sweatshirt, this sweater, this blouse (LOVE the mustard), these pants & these, too! i also love these soft overalls and think this dress might be super flattering!

favorite outfits from the week include: shannon’s leopard booties, lisa’s cozy outdoor outfit, kate’s overalls, liz’s plaid coat & alicia’s laid-back ranch style

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week*:

a recap of natalie borton and my join styling session of our anthropologie quilted kimono jacket will be up later today!

fun collaboration with scenery bags

my recent old navy purchases and this dress will be arriving in the next few days so if they’re winners, i plan on sharing reviews of them here!

*after a few weeks of struggling to find blog content, i feel like i’ve turned a corner! i am happy to report that i have a few fun collaborations on the horizon that i’m so excited to share with you. so stay tuned!

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend/next week:

sushi & propositions (we’re getting takeout and filling out our mail-in ballots!)

handing out candy on halloween (we never had trick-or-treaters at the condo so this will be our first year handing out treats)

having a little more free time (this past week kicked my booty!)

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

chambray + overalls

recent old navy purchases

my apologies for the lack of IFIIL post last week. these past two weeks have been a little nutty! i’ve been subbing up a storm at studio barre encinitas (which i love!) and by the time i get home, i barely have any energy to trade out my top knot and workout clothes for mermaid waves and instagram-worthy ensembles. REGARDLESS, i’m still having a great time with my new schedule (would you believe that today marks two months since i quit my job?) and feel so grateful to lean into this sweet season of life. we thankfully have very little plans this weekend so i can’t wait to catch up on my zzz’s, our DVR, and log a little time with my number one. have a wonderful last weekend of october (HOW is november 1st this coming thursday?) and i’ll see you back next week.

xo
