the best black jeans

0 Permalink 5

despite the fact that it’s still not really quite time for jeans (#indiansummer), i’ve been dying to shoot this pair for the blog. you may remember them from my recent(ish) post highlighting favorites from madewell’s fall arrivals, or perhaps you spotted them on my instagram. either way, they are too good not to have their own featured post.

madewell 10″ high-rise skinny jeans in berkeley black: button-through edition (sized down one) || madewell blouse (similar here & here) || j.crew leopard mules (TTS) || amazon rattan bag || natalie borton earrings (c/o)

as a long-waisted gal, i love me a high-rise. the higher, the better, i say. honestly, i’d love it if my jeans (really all pants in general) were so high that they sat just beneath my bra line. like a full body sock. maybe that’s a bit hyperbolic, but you know that i mean. ANYWHO, when madewell released their button-front black denim in a 10″ rise (as opposed to their 1″ lower kid-sister that has over 300 near 5-star reviews), i was PUMPED. i’m not sure why, but these days i think i might favor black denim to the traditional dark washes. once i tried them on, i was sold. they’re super stretchy (something i’m always happy to have in my jeans) and would be perfect for tucking into mid-shaft boots as well as pairing with d’orsay flats and mules.

for this week’s date night, we headed to our favorite pizza spot for what i believe to be the best pie in town. while it’s still in the upper 80’s, the humidity has broken and it is finally feeling a tad bit cooler in the early mornings and late afternoon/evenings. for that reason, i felt comfortable sporting full-length denim and a breezy floral top from madewell’s fall collection from last year. i decided to pattern mix and added in a pop of leopard with my calf hair mules as well as a pop of color with my mustard-colored tassel earrings. my amazon rattan bag finished off the entire ensemble.

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
