the quintessential summer short

i’m declaring summer 2021 the year of the non-denim short. mostly because i can’t seem to find a pair of cut-offs i love and i’m kind of tired of looking. INSTEAD i’m focusing my efforts on the shorts i have found and fallen madly in love with. let me explain.

as i mentioned earlier this week, loft has been taking all of my money lately. among a recent order were these pull-on ponte shorts which just arrived in time for memorial day. i was initially drawn to them for their drawstring waistband (i’m avoiding buttons and zippers apparently?), but once i realized they were made from ponte material (traditionally reserved for dressier/office-appropriate pieces), i knew they’d be a great versatile warm weather staple to dress up or down.

for casual outfits, i plan on pairing them with my ribbed tanks, favorite tees, v-neck & henley sweatshirts, birkenstocks, and lace-up sandals.

for dressier looks (if we ever decide to go on a date night sans children?), i can see them going well with my white ruffled blouse, black ribbed long-sleeved top, espadrille wedges, and snakeskin mules.

lucky for you (and for me as i just ordered them in a third color) they are 50%(!) off for the holiday weekend with code SUMMER. they run TTS (i’m in the small).

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
