on my radar for spring

i often share things that have caught my eye on my instagram stories but since those expire in 24 hours, i thought it might be more fun/helpful to gather them in one place! as we inch closer to warmer weather and celebrate the arrival of the spring equinox, brands are beginning to showcase their SS2022 collections and it’s getting me SO excited for what lies ahead. while i’ve always said fall style is my favorite, the older i get, the more i can really appreciate the simplicity of warm-weather dressing. a simple sundress, a tank + shorts, the perfect pair of sandals or woven mules, a flattering bathing suit? yes please! here are some of the items i’ve got tabs on for the coming months:

cuyana cropped tank || i actually found this chic tank from a targeted ad on facebook of all places. but once i clicked on the photo, i realized it was by cuyana, a sustainable brand i already know and love! i love the structured shoulders and the soft camel color (i also love the black for its versatility!) and the fact that it’s just classic enough to be a staple in my wardrobe, but with enough visual interest to make a statement, too. i would most likely wear it with my denim shorts and white wide-leg crop pants, but it would also be great dressed up with my leopard midi skirt. it’s currently out of stock in both colors, but fingers crossed they’ll restock it soon!

j.crew tie-shoulder smocked dress in strawberry floral || i wore a ton of dresses last spring/summer and it was actually so lovely, even around tiny humans. as long as i pair them with comfortable sandals or sneakers, they can be a great mom-friendly option. so with that said, i’d love to add a few more into the rotation. i adore this cheery print and the ribbon-tie shoulder detail. i am a little hesitant to hit purchase for the fact that the ties usually don’t hold up in the wash (i had a similar top from j.crew seasons ago and the ribbons eventually frayed so badly i had to cut them down until they were stubs), but i just love the whole vibe so much! so maybe instead of this dress, i’ll order something like…

mango frilled check dress || this green gingham number. gingham is always a good idea for spring/summer and the kelly green feels fresh for the new season. i love the bow in the back and the frilled hem and how easy it could be styled with everything from lace-up sandals to white leather sneakers.

freda salvador keen woven mules || so these are a BIG wishlist item for their price tag alone, but if there was anything i’d splurge on in terms of my wardrobe, it would be shoes. the last time i really splurged on footwear was back in 2006 when i bought my frye boots and 16 years later, they’re still in mint condition. SO with that said, i have been obsessed with these woven mules for over a year. they go in and out of stock constantly (in fact they are currently sold out in my size -i always size up 1/2 size in mules for more room), so i probably won’t be splurging anytime soon, but i just might treat myself for –what’s the next holiday? easter? mother’s day? i’m sure whenever it happens, i’ll find a way to justify it.

tavi noir cropped tee || i saw this cropped tee on one of my best friends and immediately texted her about its origins. turns out it was a workout top she had effortlessly paired with black denim and high-top converse. while we’ve since concluded that black converse aren’t really my “thing” at the moment, i love the idea of having a cropped tee in my wardrobe to pair with both athleisure and street clothes. this one is under $50 and a great light-weight fabric i can see myself getting a ton of wear out of throughout the warmer months.

agolde riley high rise straight crop jeans || after owning my other pair of agolde jeans for a few months now and wearing them CONSTANTLY, i think i am ready to invest in a second, less distressed pair. i’ve seen this straight crop style on a few of my instagram follows and they look so flattering and versatile, not to mention appropriate for all four seasons. as you may know, i live for a non-full-length jean so i think this pair would fit into my wardrobe seamlessly. yes, agolde is a premium brand and a bit more of an investment when it comes to jeans, but seeing as how often i have worn my first pair, i know it’s a worthy splurge. i’ll probably still try to find them on sale in some capacity just based on principle, lol.

rebecca minkoff janine sweatshirt || if you don’t listen to the podcast “the deep dive” with jessica st. clair and june diane raphael, i highly suggest you change that ASAP. their genuine friendship shines through every episode and they are so raw and real and funny as hell. this past week they interviewed june’s stylist abby arad (who is adorable) and she suggested that everyone own a grey sweatshirt because it can be dressed up or down and is just an overall workhorse for every wardrobe. i quickly took inventory of my closet and realized it is void of one said versatile pullover. given my love for a puff-sleeve, i decided i should just get the rebecca minkoff janine sweatshirt i love (currently own in caramel and ecru) in the mid heather grey color. turns out it’s sold out everywhere! so i’m on the waitlist for a restock and in the meantime, i just purchased this dupe and am praying it’ll be a good stand-in until the real thing is ready for purchase.

converse chuck taylor all star leather monochrome white high top sneakers || despite already striking out with not one but TWO pairs of converse high-tops, i have optimistically placed this white leather style in my online cart in hopes that the third time will be my charm. i have been shocked by how often i wear my beloved court sneakers so i think it’s not so outlandish to consider adding a second pair of white sneakers to my collection. S actually just ordered himself two pairs of high-tops (black & white canvas styles) and they look so cute with his khakis and button-downs for work. i think i’d probably wear mine with dresses and skirts since i love the juxtaposition of ultra feminine with a bit of edge.
