nevermind what the weather forecast says, it’s officially september and therefore in my mind, time for fall and more importantly, fall fashion.
so despite the fact that it was nearly 80-degrees this past weekend, i took my new kimono cardigan from target for a spin. whenever i find myself in between seasons, i try to employ pieces from both summer and fall to create a look that bridges the gap. in this instance, i threw the cardigan over a tank and denim shorts. a sweater/shorts combo is the perfect transitional outfit when it’s too hot for jeans but cooling down just enough to warrant an extra layer -especially in an air conditioned room.
universal thread kimono cardigan (x-small)
loft tank (similar) || j.crew factory shorts (26)
madewell mules (9.5) + tote
natalie borton earrings + necklace (c/o)
if you follow natalie borton on instagram, you may know that this cardigan is a mini phenomenon all its own. as she often does, natalie was the first to notify her followers of the value and quality of this budget buy. since her initial posting, the sweater has gained an almost cult-like following- myself included. despite not being a huge oversized cardigan person, even i found the cozy knit to be too good to pass up and now that i wore it around for an entire day, i know it’ll be one of those pieces i reach for time and time again especially as we transition to cooler weather.
i’ve rounded up my favorite cozy knits just in time for the crisp weather that we all know and love to return. for us in san diego, that doesn’t come until about mid-october, but you best believe that when it finally arrives, i’ll be ready with my ever-growing sweater collection (just ordered this one in pale pink on super sale!).
