i’ve spoken a time or two about how fun bathing suit shopping tends to be. as in, the opposite of fun. but summer’s here whether the marine layer says so or not. so as the longer days beckon me to the beach, or at least to the pool, i’ve realized that my bathing suit collection may need a bit of updating. i’m also attending a wedding whose reception is basically going to be a fancy beach day (i know, so awesome, right?) so much like choosing the perfect dress to wear to the ceremony, i’ll be in desperate need of getting my paws on the perfect suit. with the abundance of adorable retro styles this season, here are a few pieces i would be more than happy to add to my wet suit wardrobe.
i love the classic and sophisticated style of this black high waisted bikini. black is always a great option for us pale, cough, porcelain-skinned gals. plus, it would go with my panama hat and most fashion decisions of late have been made based on whether or not it matches the ensemble. so…
as if my love for this retro suit from j.crew needs any explanation. it has polka dots, enough said.
much like a polka dot, i’m a big fan of floral motifs. i’m particularly in love with the vivid lavenders, indigos, mints and fuchsias in this pattern. it kind of makes me want to go somewhere tropical. or at least treat myself to a tropical drink.
i tend to have a hard time with one-pieces given the length of my torso, but for any of these adorable little numbers from anthropologie, i might just risk the wedgie.
but potential wedgies aside, all i really hope for when happening upon the perfect retro suit is that i can channel my inner kate upton and look this good modeling my new bikini on a ledge overlooking the countryside.
here’s to a successful bathing suit shopping experience! now if you’ll excuse me, i’m off to get a spray tan.
