TGIF!
so i thought last weekend was warm, but this weekend is supposed to be another ten degrees hotter! looks like we’ve bypassed spring and already arrived at summer (also, i’m the worst if you’re reading this from anywhere other than southern california). despite not loving the heat, i am grateful that the forecast is so agreeable as most of our weekend activities are centered around being outdoors. after classes tomorrow, S and i are attending an afternoon wedding (our first of the season) and on sunday, we plan on breaking out the grill to cook up some bbq’ed chicken. it’s beginning to look a lot like summer around here, and i think i’m totally into it.
enjoy my top stories from the week!
one || when hairy met sally. when my newest hairstylist (whom i had come to love after our two visits) recently moved to denver without notice, i’m not going to lie, i was a bit despondent. good hairstylists are hard to come by, you know? i began brainstorming and then aha! i remembered that one of my sweet studio barre clients had mentioned in passing that she did hair. i googled “bombshell salon” in encinitas and quickly found her and her bio. she specialized in red heads and blondes. perfect, i think at times i moonlight as both! i called the salon and made an appointment for last friday afternoon. aside from the fact that i have come to love her on a personal level, she worked wonders with my hair, too. i was so pleased with how my highlights turned out -blending so naturally into what’s left of my natural hair color. so if you’re looking for a great stylist in the north san diego area -i’d highly recommend tovi at bombshell salon.
two || (long) distance makes the heart grow fonder. i am lucky enough to have some fabulous females in my friend arsenal. some have been added in the last few years while others have held top spots for over a decade. lucky and unlucky for me (lucky because i get to visit them, unlucky because i can’t have coffee with them on a tuesday), many of them are spread out across the country, in different cities, or even states, too far for the casual road trip to squeeze them in person. so i rely heavily on gchat, and sporadic text messages, social media, and if i’m lucky, an hour-long phone call as i’m driving from work to the studio or running around town on a saturday afternoon. earlier this week one such phone call occurred with my dear friend M, who has held the spot of bestest friend for going on 16 years. it had been some time since we had had the opportunity to exchange stories about our day to day, but we picked up as if no time had passed. like we always do, whether the passage of time be a few days or a few months. the ease of conversation that exists between good friends is truly one of life’s little gifts. and it did not go unnoticed by me last night. S and i are planning a visit to visit M and her husband hopefully this summer and i cannot wait. sometimes you just have to be reminded how blessed you are by the company of good humans. thanks for sticking with me all these years, M, and for all the free therapy 😉 i love you!
three || bow-tiful & tie-rrific. thanks to L and her stylish fiance, S and i discovered the magic of the tie bar this week. have you heard about it? it’s an online shop for every tie imaginable in every color combination and pattern imaginable -neckties, skinny ties, bowties, plaid, polka dot, striped, checked, paisley, the list goes on! and perhaps the best part is -they are each just $19! with four weddings to attend this year, S has been looking to jazz up his formal wardrobe. so after perusing through the pages and pages of options on their website, he finally ended up ordering three bowties -a plaid one, a checked one, and a polka dotted one. they are set to arrive early next week, just in time for L & M’s friday wedding! i can’t wait to see how dapper he’ll be.
four || how charming. now that the bachelor, vanderpump rules, and this season of the real world are over, and the challenge: battle of the exes II isn’t too far behind, i will soon fall well below my reality TV-watching quota. lucky for me, season two of last year’s hit southern charm is BACK this coming monday. the show highlights the shenanigans of seven charleston-based seersucker-wearing, mint julep-drinking twentysomethings (and much older than twentysomethings)-including former real world: san diego-er, cameran eubanks. it’s your typical bravo formula -drama + cat fights + dysfunctional romantic relationships all set in the quintessential southern town of charleston, south carolina. and you know what? it’s highly entertaining.
southern charm premieres monday, march 16th at 10:00 p.m. on bravo
five || 3.14. growing up with an engineer as a step-father, you learn to embrace all things nerd. whether that be reciting the golden ratio, the pythagorean theorem, avogadro’s number, or in this case, pi all at a moment’s notice. so with that said, i feel obligated to remind you that tomorrow is pi day -3/14 (or 3.14) (the first three digits of the number pi, of course). and in honor of said occasion, blaze pizza is offering pizzas for just $3.14, no coupon necessary. if pizza’s not your thing, you could always go the sweet route and order up a slice of your favorite fruit or chocolate pie instead.
happy pi day!
six || tNt. as i mentioned above, this weekend officially kicks off wedding season 2015. tomorrow my sweet friend T is getting married at lazy V ranch, a gorgeous outdoor venue in san marcos and S and i are dusting off our best hipster attire to attend. other than witnessing T marry her best friend (also with the first initial T), the best thing about this wedding is that B and her fiance are flying in from nashville to attend as well, which means a roomie reunion! i can’t wait.
enjoy the warm weekend and remember your sunscreen.
mad love and dancing!
