hi, do you know what happened to march? i blinked and it basically vanished. you guys easter is NEXT weekend. what the? anyway, it’s officially the last weekend of the month and i’m excited to say it’s set to be another great one. tomorrow momma and i have a big girls shopping day planned. it has been a while since we’ve spent some quality one-on-one time together so i’m looking forward to getting my fix. other than that, S and i plan on enjoying the gorgeous weather that’s forecasted and maybe getting through a few more episodes of breaking bad.
cheers to you and your weekend and to the six things i loved this week.
one || lemme lemme upgrade ya. the time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things. like shoes and ships and ceiling wax, and the trouble my current iphone brings… after rocking what some may consider “vintage” iphone 4s for the past three years, it’s finally time to upgrade to the iphone 6. i’m still debating between the 6 and the 6 plus, but regardless, i’m excited for a better camera phone, a larger screen, and a sound button that doesn’t freak out when i switch it from ringer to vibrate (it currently convulses when i make the change). yay for new technology (and more importantly, a new fun iphone case).
two || where it all began. my dear friend K recently rekindled her love of writing and started a blog to record her thoughts and more specifically, document her and her husband’s journey toward creating a family. it’s incredibly beautiful and raw and honest and i’m so proud of her for sharing her fears, feelings, and perspective with the interwebs. she is an inspiration and her words are most certainly worthy of your time. follow her story here. love you, K!
three || let’s make a(vocado) toast. for a long time, being gluten-free had hindered me from jumping on the whole avocado toast bandwagon. until i recently visited my new favorite breakfast spot, beach plum kitchen, and created my own version with a side of their gluten-free toast. since then, i have picked up a loaf of udi’s gluten free bread and a handful of avocados and proceeded to have avocado toast for breakfast, lunch, or a snack for the past week. it’s the perfect combination of fat and carbs to both fuel me and keep me full, not to mention the fact that it’s so easy to make. to me, it’s delicious with a little salt and pepper, but here are seven more ways to jazz it up and keep it interesting -option #2 looks delish!
four || hamming it up. at L & M’s wedding last friday (which was absolutely perfect, btw), there was a photo booth for guests to dress up and have a little fun. S grabbed the sombrero and i, the giant pink-framed glasses, and the results were -what i like to believe- some of our best work to date.
he just makes life fun.
five || breaking the fast. a couple weekends ago after playing some tennis in the march heat, S and i rewarded ourselves with acai bowls from a local juice place around the corner from his apartment. since then, we’ve been talking about recreating them at home. first step? find a good granola recipe to sprinkle atop our smoothie bowl. conveniently enough on wednesday, camille styles posted a sea salt & olive oil variety that looks both delicious and nutritious as well as very easy to make. being quite the granola connoisseur myself, i love the addition of flaxmeal, sunflower seeds, and brown rice syrup as well as the fact that it is gluten-free.
six || new quarter, new choreo. i can’t believe another calendar quarter has come and gone, but it’s already time to learn another three months’ worth of studio barre choreography! come sunday evening, the fabulous squad of fellow instructors and i will pile into the studio to see what shannon has cooked up for us (and the clients) this quarter. as always, with a group of girls and margaritas involved, it’s bound to be an entertaining evening. new choreography rolls out april 1st, so get ready.
i hope your last weekend of march is one for the books!
love you, mean it.
