after falling in love with stowaway cosmetics face products, i decided to order three of their creme lipsticks as well. of their seven shades, i opted for three -champagne (an everyday nude), peony (the perfect classic pink) and scarlet (a sassy red). truth be told, i’ve never finished a tube of lipstick. i’ve come close, but something always happens to it -either i fall out of love with the shade, or it ends up melting in the heat and becomes icky sticky mess. so second to the creamy dreamy formulas of the lipstick itself (it glides on like buttah!), what i admired most about the product was its size. its petite stature is perfect for hiding away in pockets or clutch purses!
but let’s talk color. being pretty fair and blonde, i have to be careful with the shades i choose. after sampling all three hues, i was happily surprised by how flattering they all were with my skin tone. i can’t wait to incorporate them into my makeup routine!
champagne
the ideal minimalist shade. perfect for pairing with a layer of beauty balm and swipe of mascara, or as a nude compliment to a dark smokey eye.
peony
the quintessential flirty pink -the perfect marriage of a bubblegum pink and a bright berry tone. it makes me feel pretty and feminine and is bound to be my most-worn shade.
scarlet
over the past few years, i’ve come to embrace the confidence that comes when rocking a bold red lip. “scarlet” is more of an orangey-red, which though i had never tried before, found very flattering on my skin tone (it reminds me of nars “heatwave” which i’ve heard praised for years).
p.s. check out my feature on stowaway’s blog from last week! color me flattered!

Okay… let’s be honest. I love the nude color on you… it gives just a hint of color. The pink is lovely… a reflection of your personality. And I LOVE your braid. The red… well, I’m not so fond of that. I really like your other shade of red. (Stowaway is sort of okay but it doesn’t have that bold sass that a true red lipstick color should have. Maybe you can keep scarlet as a back-up.)
(Sorry if I’ve been too honest. Keep the first two shades. They look lovely on you.)
