summer saturday

on saturday afternoon, S and i ventured out to conquer a few miscellaneous errands around town. admittedly, getting dressed on saturdays is a struggle. and let me tell you why.

as you may already know, on saturdays i teach back to back studio barre classes until noon. so by the time i get home, nearly half of the day is gone. when S and i were first dating, i often justified the fact that half of my day was spent working (“working” is a loose term, teaching studio barre classes is WAY more fun than work) as an excuse to stay in workout clothes for the duration of the day. while there is certainly nothing wrong with sporting lulu’s until bedtime, i did notice that by 4:00 p.m. i was in a grumpy funk. so after a little soul-searching, i realized that the fact that i never “got ready” for my day greatly affected my mood. the act of actually showering, putting on a fresh outfit, and swiping on a little mascara instantly made me feel as though i was hitting the “reset” button on my day. plus it opened up the opportunity for S and i to re-institute “date night” which i feel is so important especially as we have long since settled into a comfortable routine.

anyway, i threw this outfit together as we headed out the door to tend to our list of to-do’s. fall temperatures are still nowhere in sight, so i was happy i had snagged this romper (it has since sold out, but i linked similar options below) earlier in the summer because it’s the perfect alternative to my weekend uniform of a tank and jean shorts.

since we opted for a more casual spot for date night, i sported this outfit to our meal at fish 101, a charming eatery nestled along PCH. it was S’s first time there and i actually felt a little badly that we had waited this long to pay it a visit. if you live in north county san diego and enjoy seafood, i highly recommend it! also, if you live in north county san diego, there is this amazing pink wall in leucadia. i had just lamented that morning that i wished i could find a few vibrant walls in the area to shoot as backdrops and voila, we found this baby. pink walls really do make everything better, don’t they?
