seven pretty things from j.crew

ever since my local j.crew store closed its doors nearly two years ago, i’ve seen a huge decline in how often i shop the brand. i loved saving on shipping costs by having my online items shipped directly to the store. and if for whatever reason said items didn’t turn out to be winners, i could simply return them on the spot. it really was a beautiful convenience and now that it’s gone i feel like i think long and hard of whether or not the item of my affection is worth the hassle.

HOWEVER j.crew’s latest ‘endless summer’ collection is so dang pretty and feminine and giving me all the doen vibes (as i’ve mentioned many times, doen is my ultimate brand crush that lies just out of my price range) that it’s making me rethink my unintentional j.crew shopping hiatus. here are seven things that have caught my eye (along with the two items i purchased to try!):

ruffle-color ribbed merino sweater || i’m a sucker for a feminine collar and a ribbed knit. put them together and you have the sweetest little summer for fall. i’d tuck this cutie into a high-waisted skirt or pair it with slouchy denim (see below) to offset its tighter fit. i only wish it wasn’t wool (which tends to be itchy on my skin) otherwise i would scoop it up in a heartbeat!

smocked neck puff-sleeve cotton poplin top || another day, another puff-sleeve top i have to have. what i love about this one in particular is the fact that it combines the sophistication of a classic crisp white button-down with the feminine details of a smocked neckline and exaggerated sleeve. i love how it’s styled on j.crew’s website, with a pair of straight-leg denim, loafers, and a gorgeous bucolic locale.

eco cupro slip dress || ever since seeing a reel showcasing three effortless ways to style a slip dress i’ve decided that i need one in my closet. i’m not entirely sure i’m a slip dress kind of gal but i’d like to at least be given the opportunity to decide once and for all. i would style mine with sneakers for a chic mom look or layer a long-sleeve top underneath to transition it into fall.

puff-sleeve textured cotton top || this top could go a little renaissance fair-y but i think it still manages to read more ‘romantic’ than anything. i think it all comes down to how you style it. i’d probably pair it with denim for an elevated take on a white tee and jeans. it also comes in a gorgeous floral print which would be beautiful with these trousers for the office.

slouchy boyfriend jean in southern sky wash || so the jeans i’m wearing in the photo above are the same exact fit and i LOVE how perfectly baggy they are. i will say i was secretly about 8 weeks pregnant in this photo so the extra volume was key in hiding my growing bump (my belly started growing almost instantly with twins!), not to mention the fact that i sized up two from my normal size (they’re a little comically big now but i can’t bring myself to part with them). once this darker wash went on sale, i snagged them in my proper size. i love the idea of pairing them with a tighter-fitting top or ribbed knit and mules for fall. in all honesty, i really want to recreate the look above soon. if i could go back, i’d tell this newly pregnant girl that she looks super cute. she would have loved to have heard that because she felt extremely nauseous at the time.

pull-on slip skirt || since i can’t seem to justify the aforementioned slip dress, i decided to snag the skirt version instead. in all honesty, separates are usually more my speed for their versatility factor. i ordered this chic faux silk skirt in the camel color and can’t wait for it to arrive. i envision it with a simple white tee and sneakers to close our summer, and with a chunky sweater and lace-up boots for fall.

easy-luxe eco tank pajama set || i mean, who doesn’t want to feel luxurious when lounging around the house? this set just might be one of the chicest pajama sets i’ve ever seen. it comes in both black and white with piping detail that makes it look much more expensive than it is. it would be such a great gift for a new mom!

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
