on saturday night i attended a birthday party for a dear friend’s 30th birthday. since i usually opt for jeans on the weekends -whether paired with a ruffled blouse or a simple tee, i thought i’d step it up and dress a little fancier for the occasion. i actually wear this combo as a work outfit at least a couple times a month (sometimes with tights if necessary), and everyone always thinks it’s a dress! somehow despite the fact that the polka dots are different shapes and colors, the combination just seems to work. which is great for me since i’m a firm believer you can never have enough dots 😉
it’s important to note that though i had every intention of wearing this party ensemble to the dinner, i soon realized that the even would be held outside and well, i’d probably end up being cold. while at one point of my life i would have suffered in the name of fashion, at age 31, comfort comes before everything else these days. so immediately after these photos were taken, i came home and changed into a sweater and jeans. but not before hopefully impressing the fine patrons of trader joe’s.
