while i love a good investment piece, i’m a bargainista at my core. i oftentimes refuse to purchase something unless there’s a promo code i can apply to get a discount (and if i do buy the item at full price and it goes on sale, you better believe i take it back to the store for a price adjustment!). so when i was asked for a recommendation for a good dupe for madewell’s popular fleet jacket (whose oddly narrow arms made me not a fan), i was quick to offer the perfect alternative.
drumroll please…
old navy’s twill field jacket.
how do i love thee, twill field jacket? let me count the ways:
- you’re under $50.00 (sometimes less since old navy has a sale every other day)
- you come in SEVEN colors -including “dried herb”, a soft moss green which is a dead ringer for madewell’s version
- you have pockets
- you have adjustable ties at the waist to cinch in the sides for a closer, more flattering fit
- hey, almost 2000 positive reviews on old navy’s website can’t be wrong, right?
i own this jacket in the winter reeds color (a light khaki as show above) in an xs and it fits perfectly. i’m actually debating taking my own advice and ordering it in the green color just to have as an alternative. if you’re looking for a great piece of light outerwear that’s perfect for spring and early fall, i can’t recommend this jacket enough!
